We hired SRK construction to finish our basement. We were immediately impressed by Scott because of his excellent communication and professionalism. Scott’s team is also very respectful and does an excellent job. Scott came by regularly to ensure things were running smoothly. He was organized and always on top of everything. The pandemic hit towards the end of our project but he still kept the project moving along in a timely manner. We love our basement and will definitely hire Scott again in the future!
Scott and his team did a fantastic job with finishing our basement, and removing an enclosed stairwell on our main level to turn it into a more open living area. He also added a pantry, closet, built in book shelf, and fixed cracking plaster in one room (that had been fixed twice already by other contractors, but kept cracking). I actually meant to hire another contractor, but after some miscommunication with the other guy and a whole mess, I fell into Scott’s hands and wow am I glad I did. He was very professional, communicated well, and just really made me feel at ease after a really stressful start with the other guy. They handled the irregularities of our 110+ year old house very well. The quality of his team’s work exceeded our expectations, and we absolutely love our final product. I would use SRK again in a heartbeat, and highly recommend him.
Having worked in the architectural world in St Louis for 20 years, I've been part of a wide variety of projects, and interacted with too many contracting firms to list. While there are plenty of good contractors in the area, it is rare to find one that consistently exceeds client expectations, delivers outstanding quality and attention to detail, and uses an 'open book' approach that keeps owners fully apprised of the ebb and flow of the construction process. Construction projects are not known for being much fun, but I would argue Scott and the crew at SRK not only get the job done better than most, they do so in a way that makes the whole process the best it can be.
Scott and his team did a great job with our covered back patio with a fireplace! I was able to provide Scott with pictures I found online for inspiration and he was able to provide multiple options to accomplish the vision in my back yard. The team was very thorough and spent time making sure every detail was done correctly. I regularly looked at the work during the process and could tell the team was very skilled and wasn't taking any shortcuts. Scott always took time to always keep me up to date with status and answer any questions I had. Having worked with other contractors in the past and dealing with the pain of resolving issues I had with their work, it was nice to be able to look at this project when Scott said it was complete and agree it really was done.
We have had three major projects done by SRK: two bathrooms and finishing an unfinished basement, in addition to other, smaller jobs. For each project, Scott Knese worked with us through the planning and execution of the project. He is extremely knowledgeable and detail-oriented and comes up with good ideas to makes spaces functional and beautiful, to address problems and to fit the project within budget. The workers and subcontractors show up reliably and Scott comes to check their work regularly. The work is always done to the highest standard and I would unreservedly recommend SRK for any size project.
